Ghoul

Australian Shepherd

3 months, Male, Large

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Ghoul

BREED: Doberman x Australian Shepherd mix

DOB: 8/4/24

Home Recommendation:  Since Ghoul is two working breeds, he will grow into a large, active dog, making him a great match for someone experienced with large breeds or committed to providing him with the training he needs. Early socialization, training, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation will be essential to help him develop into a well-behaved adult companion.

Personality:  Ghoul is an absolute sweetheart! This lovable, cuddly mushball is as loyal as they come. Once he bonds with his person, he's your shadow for life. Having had a tough start in life, he can be a little timid and may take some time to warm up to new faces, but once he does, his playful personality shines. Ghoul enjoys the simple pleasures—grabbing leaves during walks, playing fetch, and having zoomies around the house!

KIDS: Yes, he is great with kids.

DOGS: Yes, he is currently being fostered with other dogs and does great! He may be a little shy at first greeting, but once he gets comfortable he will start engaging in play.

CATS: Yes!

TRAINING:  He is working on his crate training. He is good at walking on the leash and enjoys going for walks. He is getting the hang of going to the bathroom outside and with a consistent routine, he will learn in no time! He has been learning how to go up and down stairs.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Ghoul were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
