WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Nessie

BREED: German Shepherd Husky mix

Home Recommendation:  Nessie is looking for an active family ready to take her on adventures and provide the training she needs to grow into a well-mannered lady. She would thrive in a home that keeps her both mentally and physically engaged.

Personality: Nessie is a playful, energetic pup who loves to be part of the action! Whether she’s romping around with her foster sibling or playing with every toy in sight, she’s always on the move. She would absolutely love a family who takes her to the park for fetch or outdoor adventures. In typical Shepherd fashion, she will become your little shadow, following her humans everywhere. 

KIDS: Yes, she would do great with kids.

DOGS: Yes, she loves other dogs and would be thrilled to have a sibling!

CATS: Yes!

TRAINING: She is doing great with her crate training. She is very smart and eager to learn! She is very polite and always sits down in front of you, doesn’t nip or bite unless she is already playing or chewing on something. She is very good on the leash (doesn’t stop/sit) and with more practice she’ll be great. She has been enjoying going on walks. She is working on her potty training.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Nessie were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
