WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Vega

BREED: Miniature Pinscher

DOB: Aug 5, 2024 (6 months)

HOME RECOMMENDATION: Vega would do best in a loving home where she can get plenty of playtime, snuggles, and continued puppy training.

PERSONALITY: Vega is an adorable mix of sweetness and spunk! She has bursts of zoomies where she tears around the house playing, but as soon as she sees an open lap, she’s leaping right in for cuddles. She’s incredibly people-friendly and loves attention. She enjoys playing with toys, romping around with her doggy friends, and curling up for snuggles.

KIDS: Yes, she would do great with kids.

DOGS: Yes! She would love to have a doggy sibling.

CATS: Yes

TRAINING: Vega is working on her crate training. She is still practicing walking on a leash but isn’t the biggest fan of winter walks—cold weather isn’t her favorite! She is wee wee pad trained and working on going outdoors.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Vega were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
