WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Banjo

BREED: Chihuahua x Terrier mix

AGE: 5 months

Home Recommendation:Banjo is a young pup who will need an adopter committed to continuing his puppy training. He would thrive in a home where he can get lots of playtime, cuddles, and attention. 

Personality: Banjo is a fun-loving little guy with a big heart! He enjoys wrestling with other dogs, cuddling up with his people—whether on the couch or in his dog bed. He loves to explore new places, especially if its outdoors. He’s full of curiosity and affection and loves being part of the action.

CATS: Yes

TRAINING: Banjo has been doing great with his crate — he settles in quietly at night, during mealtimes, and even when you have to step out for a bit. Potty training is going well too! He hasn’t quite learned to ask to go out yet, but if you keep an eye on his water intake and routine, he’s very manageable. We've only had one accident so far! Banjo is very responsive to correction and is making great progress. He would be happy having doggy friends or living independently on his own. He is learning how to walk on a leash and will soon be ready to strut his stuff.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Banjo was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Georgia. He made his way to New Jersey and is now patiently waiting to find the loving forever family he deserves!
