WISE is an entirely volunteer-run organization, and every single donation we receive goes straight back into caring for the animals in our rescue. Thanks to the generosity of veterinary practices that partner with us, we’re able to save lives and help animals heal—both physically and emotionally. While some of our dogs need only basic veterinary care, others require more involved medical treatment or behavioral support to become their happiest, healthiest selves.
We kindly ask that all adopters support our mission with a minimum donation of $850. This contribution helps us continue our lifesaving work—not just for the dog you may be adopting, but for every dog currently in our care and those who will come to us in the future. We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to give these dogs a second chance.
NAME: Kabob
BREED: Miniature Poodle
DOB: January 27, 2021
Home Recommendation: Kabob would do best in a peaceful home with someone who understands that love and trust take time. He’s eager to please and an incredibly fast learner. With patience and consistency, Kabob is going to blossom into an incredibly loyal and loving companion. While he may be a bit shy at first, he's just waiting for the right person to help it shine. Kabob would do best in a peaceful, patient home with someone who understands that love and trust take time to grow. With kindness and a little consistency, Kabob is going to blossom into one of the most loyal, loving companions you could ever hope to meet.
Personality: Kabob is a sweet and sensitive little guy who's slowly learning how to trust and enjoy life. Right now, his crate is his happy place—it’s where he feels safest and most secure. He enjoys going for walks and is very curious about his surroundings, always ready to sniff and explore. That said, he's still adjusting to the world around him. Busy or noisy environments can overwhelm him. So a calm, quiet setting would suit him best. He shows affection in the gentlest ways—by quietly approaching, sniffing your hands, and offering little licks. He eats like a champ and isn’t picky at all! He’s incredibly eager to please and picks up on routines quickly! Whether it's learning new commands, settling into a comfy bed, or simply figuring out how to be the best snuggle buddy ever, Kabob is a fast learner who thrives on gentle encouragement and praise.
KIDS: Kabob would do best in a home with kids 10+
DOGS: Yes, he is good with other dogs!
CATS: Unknown
Training: Kabob is crate-trained and actually prefers spending time in his crate—it gives him a sense of comfort and safety. He sleeps soundly through the night and is doing really well on leash walks, especially when it’s quiet outside. He listens well and picks up new things quickly, but he’ll need a patient person who can guide him through moments when he feels nervous or overstimulated. Currently, Kabob is using pee pads indoors for potty needs. While he enjoys walks, he hasn’t yet figured out how to relieve himself outside, so continued positive reinforcement and consistency will be key as he transitions.
WHY DID SHE COME TO WISE? Kabob spent his life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When his "breeders" decided he was no longer useful, they planned to discard him. Thankfully, WISE stepped in to save him, giving him the opportunity to find a loving forever home where he can finally experience the joy of being part of a family.
