WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Link
BREED: Cocker Spaniel x Poodle
DOB: May 20th, 2025 (16 weeks)
Home Recommendation: Link is a handsome pup that is full of energy and always ready for action! He loves to stay busy, play, and explore. Link will thrive in an active home that can give him plenty of exercise, training, and attention. If you’re looking for a fun, adventurous companion to keep up with your lifestyle, this pup could be the perfect match!
Note: Link does have shedding so if you have sensitive allergies, we would not recommend Link or his sister Katana.
Personality: Link and his sister Katana are both sweet, outgoing, active, and playful pups. Link is a fun-loving boy, he is full of energy and joy! He absolutely loves to play with toys, run around the yard, and soak up every bit of attention he can get. He’s great with kids, adores people, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, making him a fantastic fit for an active family. If you’re looking for a playful, people-loving companion who will keep you smiling and moving, he’s the one!
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Yes
Training: Link is still in the early stages of training and learning quickly! Crate training is a work in progress – but with consistency and patience, he’ll get more comfortable. His leash walking has already shown big improvement and is learning fast. House training will need continued work, as he’ll go outside but is also learning how to go indoors. With time, guidance, and positive reinforcement, he’ll keep making great strides!
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Link were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
