WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Peach
BREED: Golden Retriever
DOB: Feb 9, 2022 (3 years 7 months)
Home Recommendation: Peach would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can continue building her confidence at her own pace. She would do especially well with another friendly dog in the home to keep her company, play with, and help her feel more secure.
Personality: Peach is a sweet girl who loves pets, back scratches, and has just discovered her love for liver treats and bully sticks. She really comes out of her shell when she’s with other dogs and feels happiest with a furry friend by her side. New places can make her a little nervous, but with some time and kindness she warms right up. She likes when people let her sniff and meet her at her level, and once she feels safe she shows how loving she truly is. Peach is an independent pup, but she’ll always come looking for cuddles from the people she trusts.
KIDS: Yes, kids 10+
DOGS: Yes, Peach loves other dogs!
CATS: Unknown
Training: Peach sleeps all night in her crate with no problems. With a cover over it, it feels cozy and safe, and she settles right in until morning. Peach does very well on a leash and loves to walk right by your side. She feels most comfortable when she can see you, so it is best to stay beside her because walking behind can make her a little nervous. Peach is doing great with her house training. She has had no accidents inside and goes outside to do her business.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Peach spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her, giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter with a family who will cherish her.
