WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Yoshi
BREED: Beagle x Plott Hound mix
DOB: Jun 23, 2025 (18 weeks)
SIZE: ~40-50lbs when fully grown
Home Recommendation: Yoshi is a happy, high-energy girl who loves to play and explore! This fun-loving pup would thrive in an active home with another young, playful dog or a family that has a yard where she can run and burn off her energy. She’s full of life and loves having space to play!
Personality: Yoshi loves every dog and every person she meets! She’s always ready to play and make new friends—whether it’s a game of chase, tug-of-war, or just running around with the pack. Once she’s had her fun and burned off some energy, she’s happy to settle in for some cuddles. She’s truly the best of both worlds: a playful spirit and a sweet snuggler who loves to be part of the action and then relax by your side.
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Unknown
Training: Yoshi does great walking on leash and enjoys being part of the action. Potty training is coming along nicely, and she’s comfortable sleeping in her crate. She may whine a little at first when left alone, but she settles down quickly.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Yoshi were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
