Doris Day

Miniature Schnauzer

3 years, Female, Small

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Doris Day

BREED:  Mini Schanuzer

DOB: Apr 17, 2023 (2 years 6 months)

Home Recommendation:Doris will thrive in a loving, patient home that can give her the time and reassurance she needs to feel secure. She’s shy at first but quickly blossoms with kindness and consistency. A quieter home environment where she can relax and bond at her own pace would be ideal.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Doris Day spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her, giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter!

Personality:Doris Day is as sweet as they come! She’s a gentle, affectionate girl who loves cuddling up next to her people or relaxing quietly nearby. She’s easygoing and content whether she’s lounging on the couch or enjoying a stroll around the neighborhood. Doris also enjoys playing with toys on her own and will happily entertain herself between snuggle sessions.

KIDS: Yes, kids 6+

DOGS: Yes, she loves other dogs!

CATS: Unknown

Training: Doris Day sleeps soundly through the night in her crate and is learning to walk beautifully on a leash. She’s making great progress with house training and rarely has accidents when kept on a consistent schedule. Doris thrives with routine and is a very smart girl who loves to please.
