WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Patsy Cline

BREED: Bernese Mountain Dog x Poodle mix

DOB: Feb 23, 2019 (6 years 7 months)

Home Recommendation:Patsy will thrive in a home that has another friendly dog, a fenced-in yard, and experienced adopters who can continue helping her build confidence. Because she can be shy and fearful at times, she’ll do best in a calm environment with patient people committed to her training and socialization.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Patsy spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her, giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter!

Personality:Despite her difficult start, Patsy is a gentle, sweet-natured girl who is slowly discovering the joys of being a family dog. She is low-key and happiest in a calm environment, especially when she has another dog by her side to boost her confidence. Patsy loves spending time outside or hanging out in her dog bed. She’s an easy going gal who is leaning “how to dog”.  With people, she likes to approach at her own pace, and will give a wagging tail of approval when you pet her.

Training:Patsy sleeps soundly through the night in her crate. She is still practicing her leash walking and does best when walking alongside another dog, which helps boost her confidence. Patsy is not yet fully house trained, but with structure, consistency, and routine, she will get there.
