3 months, Female, Small
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Opawlite
BREED: Rat Terrier x Jack Russell Terrier
DOB: Jul 25, 2025
GENDER: female
Home Recommendation:Opawlite is a young, energetic pup who would love a family that can give her plenty of playtime, structure, and snuggles! She’s a social butterfly who enjoys spending time with both people and other dogs, so a home where she’s not left alone for long stretches would be ideal.
Personality: Opawlite is a total sweetheart with a tail that never stops wagging! She LOVES to cuddle and will happily curl up in your lap after a fun day of play. She’s full of personality- playful, goofy, and endlessly curious. Her favorite activities include tug-of-war, chasing leaves, and playing with her toys. She’s smart, affectionate, and always up for an adventure (as long as it ends with snuggles!).
KIDS: 10+ since she’s still learning polite play, a family with slightly older children would be best.
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Unknown
Training: Opawlite is doing great in her crate- she naps there during the day with the door open and sleeps soundly through the night. She’s working on leash walking and does a pretty good job, though she sometimes gets distracted by all the exciting things around her. House training is a work in progress, but she’s improving every day with a consistent schedule and lots of encouragement.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Opawlite were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
