Cardigan

Beagle

4 years, Female, Medium

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Cardigan

BREED: Beagle

DOB: Aug 18, 2021 (4 years 1 month)

Home Recommendation: Cardigan would do best in a calm, patient home that can give her time to build confidence at her own pace. She’s very sweet and gentle, but can be shy in new situations or with new people. A quieter environment, ideally without a lot of noise or sudden activity, will help her feel safe. Once she feels comfortable, her loving personality truly shines, and she’ll bond deeply with her people.

Personality: Cardigan is very chill, easygoing, and loves to relax by your side. Her gentle and affectionate nature makes her the perfect companion for someone looking for a calm, loving dog to share their days with. She’ll be happiest in a home where she can soak up attention, go on leisurely walks, and enjoy plenty of cozy snuggle time.

KIDS: Yes, 10+

DOGS: Yes, she loves them

CATS: Unknown

Training: Cardigan is still learning the ropes with potty training and leash walking, but she’s making great progress! With a little patience and consistency, she’ll continue to improve. She’s eager to please and responds well to gentle guidance and encouragement.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Cardigan spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her, giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter!
