Sage

Pug

2 years, Female, Small

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Sage

BREED: Pug

DOB: Jun 15, 2023 (2 years 5 months)

Home Recommendation: Sage is still decompressing, but her gentle and sweet personality is already shining through. Because she is a bit shy and on the mellow side, she would thrive in a calmer, slower-paced household that can give her the time and space she needs to feel fully comfortable. She gets along well with the dogs in her foster home, though she tends to keep to herself, so a respectful canine companion or a home where she can enjoy quiet independence would be a great fit.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Sage spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter!

Personality: Sage loves to follow her person around and is happiest right by your side. She’s affectionate, attentive, and never shy about giving lots of sweet kisses. Her loving nature makes her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, close-by best friend.

KIDS: Yes, kids 10+

DOGS: Yes

CATS: Yes

Training: Sage has been settling nicely into a routine and is doing well in her crate at night. She’s currently using the wee-wee pads in the house and making steady progress. She hasn’t started leash training yet, but we’ll be working on that as she becomes more comfortable. With continued patience and consistency, she’ll pick up new skills in no time.
