WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Rosemary
BREED: Pug
DOB: Jun 15, 2023 (2 years 5 months)
Home Recommendation: Rosemary would thrive in a home where her people are around more often than not, as she bonds deeply and loves staying by your side. Since discovering she’s safe, she hasn’t wanted to leave her foster’s company and is happiest simply being part of whatever you’re doing. She would do well in a calm, patient home that understands she’s still coming out of her shell. She isn’t bothered by other dogs and is perfectly content to coexist with them, even if she isn’t ready to play just yet. She tends to stay a bit reserved around canine friends for now, but with time and gentle encouragement, she’ll likely grow more comfortable. A household that can give her the space and support to continue building confidence would be a great match.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Rosemary spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her, giving them a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter!
Personality: Rosemary is an affectionate, loyal companion who would do best with someone who appreciates a loving shadow and is ready for a devoted cuddle buddy. Rosemary is just the sweetest little girl who needs to be in a good routine and shown lots of love, she will be a delight to whoever adopts her!
KIDS: Yes, kids 10+
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Yes
Training: Rosemary is settling in well and is okay in her crate at night, though she’s much more comfortable when someone is in the room—being alone still makes her a bit uneasy. She’s just beginning her leash journey; while she hasn’t gone on full walks yet, she practices on-leash in the backyard and does well, even if sudden noises still make her a little nervous. She’s adjusting to her new environment at her own pace. Rosemary has also been great with pee-pee pads from day one, and with continued routine and guidance, she shows strong potential to be fully potty trained to go outside.
