Pinecone

Yorkshire Terrier

3 months, Male, Small

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Pinecone

BREED: Yorkshire Terrier x Bichon Frise

DOB: Oct 26, 2025 (11 weeks)

GENDER: male

Home Recommendation: Pinecone would do well in a home with children and other dogs, as he is very social and friendly. As a puppy, he is still learning boundaries and may explore other dogs’ food, water, and toys, so a patient, tolerant canine companion would be ideal. Because of his small size, a home with older, calmer children is recommended. He also tends to get underfoot, so adopters should be mindful when walking around the house.

Personality: Pinecone is playful, friendly, and active, with a fun-loving personality. He also knows how to slow down and enjoy his naps, often putting himself to bed. He already has a nice routine starting to form.

KIDS: Yes, 6+

DOGS: Yes

CATS: Yes

Training: Pinecone's house training still needs improvement. He will need a patient adopter who understands puppy training and is committed to helping him learn with consistency and positive reinforcement. He is also still working on crate training and will benefit from continued guidance and routine.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Pinecone were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
