5 years, Female, Small
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Cloud
BREED: Coton de Tulear
DOB: Mar 8, 2021 (5 years 2 months)
GENDER: female
Home Recommendation: Cloud would thrive in a home with another pet, as she shows no signs of resistance around other animals and seems to enjoy companionship. Her gentle, submissive nature makes her a wonderful candidate for a family environment, and she would likely do very well with children. Cloud is incredibly sweet and trusting—she calmly allows handling for ear drops, tick removal, baths, and grooming without fuss. Her easygoing temperament and affectionate personality make her the kind of dog who settles in quickly and brings a calm, loving presence to the home.
Personality: Cloud is a sweet, gentle girl who also has a playful side beginning to shine through. She loves relaxing in the sun and soaking up the warmth, but she’s also started showing little bursts of energy—running around the yard and even hopping over a small wooden plank divider with confidence. Cloud can stand on her back feet and enjoys interacting with the people around her. She has a calm, submissive nature overall, making her both easygoing and affectionate, with just the right touch of playful charm.
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Unknown, but cat test can be done for approved adopters
Training: Cloud has been doing wonderfully with her house training and has had no accidents in the home. She has never used puppy pads and prefers going outside to the yard for bathroom breaks several times a day, no matter the weather. She is comfortable sitting calmly while wearing a leash, though she is not quite walking on it yet. Cloud also enjoys riding in her cozy car seat bed and will sometimes choose to sleep there at night beside her crate, showing how adaptable and content she is in her routine.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Cloud were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
