Meet Axel!
Axel is a 3-year-old Boston Terrier mix with a bigger frame, a bigger voice, and an equally big heart. At 34 pounds, he's a sturdy, handsome guy who recently found himself looking for a new home through no fault of his own.
If Axel has one message he'd like the world to hear, it's this: "Don't forget about me!"
When Axel headed to the vet with several other dogs, he made it very clear that waiting his turn was not his favorite activity. He voiced his opinion from the van, eager to get moving and join the fun. But once it was his turn, he happily trotted along with a complete stranger, showing just how friendly and easygoing he really is.
According to his previous owner, Axel is a medium-energy dog who enjoys cuddling, rides well in the car, and doesn't struggle with separation anxiety. He's house trained, crate trained, knows the command "drop," and gets along well with other dogs. While he didn't have much leash experience in his previous home, he's already showing that he's willing to learn.
When visitors arrive, Axel is ready to welcome them. He loves attention and is always happy to collect a few extra pets from anyone willing to give them. His previous owner also indicated that he does well with children, though his experience with toddlers is unknown.
Axel may bark when he sees people approaching, but don't mistake that for toughness. More often than not, he's simply letting everyone know he'd rather be out exploring than waiting behind a kennel door.
If you're looking for a friendly companion who enjoys attention, companionship, and being part of the action, Axel may be the perfect fit for your family. Apply today at www.caninecollective.org to meet Axel!
