WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

Home Recommendation: Lentil would thrive in a home where he can be a true member of the family and soak up all the love and attention he deserves. He has a big personality packed into a sweet, affectionate pup and loves nothing more than being close to his people for cuddles. Friendly with everyone he meets, Lentil is always greeting the world with a happy, wagging tail and plenty of enthusiasm. He also has a confident side, making him a fun and entertaining companion. Whether he's snuggled up on the couch or following you around the house, Lentil is sure to bring endless love, laughter, and joy to his forever home.

Personality: Lentil is the perfect mix of affectionate and curious. His favorite place is curled up on someone's lap or snuggled close beside you on the couch, soaking up all the love he can get. When he's not cuddling, you'll often find him happily licking the marrow out of a favorite bone or exploring every new sight, smell, and adventure around him. With his sweet nature, playful curiosity, and love of being near his people, Lentil is a wonderful companion who will quickly become the heart of any home.

Training: Lentil is making great progress with his training and continues to improve each day. Lentil much rather be curled up sleeping close to you! He's doing very well for such a tiny dog and is going outside regularly to potty, though he still occasionally has accidents indoors. With a consistent routine and positive reinforcement, we expect this to continue improving. Lentil is also working on leash walking—he enjoys short strolls but prefers to explore at his own pace, so he isn't the type of pup who will want to go on long walks. Patience and consistency will help him continue building his confidence and skills.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.
