WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Peanut Butter
BREED: Miniature Goldendoodle
DOB: Apr 30, 2023 (3 years 2 months)
GENDER: female
Home Recommendation: Peanut Butter would do best in a calm, patient home that understands fearful dogs and is willing to give her the time and space she needs to continue building confidence. Her fear is still very present, but she has already made slow and meaningful progress in a short amount of time. She is looking for a family that can provide a predictable routine, a safe environment, and lots of gentle encouragement as she learns that the world is a safe place. Right now, Peanut Butter finds comfort in her crate, enjoys following her people around the house, and quietly observing everything happening around her. She is still very fearful outside, especially with cars, noises, and unfamiliar surroundings, so she will need a patient adopter who can help her gain confidence at her own pace. With consistency, love, and understanding, Peanut Butter will continue to blossom into the sweet companion she is meant to be.
Personality: Peanut Butter is a sweet and gentle girl who is slowly learning to come out of her shell. Right now, she finds comfort in her crate, enjoys following her people around the house, and quietly takes in everything happening around her. She may be a little unsure at first, but her curious nature shines through as she observes her surroundings and begins to feel safe. With patience, love, and reassurance, Peanut Butter is showing that she has a soft heart and is ready to continue building trust with her family.
KIDS: Yes, kids 10+
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Unknown, can be tested for an approved adopter
Training: Peanut Butter is making wonderful progress with her training and continues to gain confidence each day. She is comfortable walking short distances, will go potty outside, and is happy to head back inside afterward. She has also been doing very well with her potty routine, consistently using a pee pad indoors and going potty outside when given the opportunity. As she continues to decompress and feel more comfortable in her surroundings, her confidence with new experiences will continue to grow. Peanut Butter will benefit from a patient family who can celebrate her progress and continue encouraging her at her own pace.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.
