3 years, Female, Extra Large
This happy Berner girl is Artemis. She is 3yrs old. She's on the smaller side for a Berner. She weighed in at 76 lbs at her last vet visit.
She's recently retired from being a breeding Mom. She's learning life in a home and doing well. Her perfect family would be a calm family that will be ok with her taking a little while to warm up to them. She is easily spooked by a lot of things still but once she warms up and becomes comfortable in her surroundings she just wants to be your best friend and center of attention.
Belly rubs are a #1 requirement for her. She's just learning toys recently and thinks they are sooo fun. She LOVES to play outside with another dog so we are looking for a home with another dog for her to play with.
She is great with sharing that attention with another playful dog.
She does prefer female humans so it will take her longer to warm up to the men in the household but with time and patience they'll become good friends.
She can be left in a crate for about 6 hours (that’s the longest her foster has left her and she was fine with no accidents).
Best with kids who are older, calm, dog savvy.
Definitely needs a fenced yard - She is easily spooked and may panic from a loud noise or something and is a flight risk.
Unknown with cats - but dog has a low prey drive and we suspect she'd be alright.
Great with all dogs. Does prefer male dogs to play with. Not a must but needs a confident dog sibling to continue to learn from in her new home.
When left home alone she needs to be crated. She will chew on things when bored.
She’s still working on potty training, doing very well but will not go potty on a leash. She will need frequent bathroom breaks to help with the potty training. So give her time to get comfortable in her new space and new potty routine. She catches on pretty quick.
She will be happy to chill with you on the couch as long as you pay the belly rub tax or she would love to be outdoors in a secure area with you, running and playing with you and/or a sibling.
When outside playing with her she will run in front of you and quickly roll onto her back so you can pet her belly. It’s comical because she will keep doing it to get belly rubs. Did we mention She LOVES belly rubs.
Artemis is spayed and up to date on all required vaccinations.
She is located in Anderson, IN
