WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Rigel
BREED: Miniature Pinscher
DOB: Aug 5, 2024 (6 months)
Home Recommendation: Rigel would thrive in a loving home where he can be showered with warmth, snuggles, and playtime. He will need a consistent routine to help with his puppy training and continued socialization.
Personality: Rigel is a little bundle of joy! He’s playful, and loving, and adores both his doggy friends and his toys. When he's not zooming around, you’ll find him curled up in a cozy spot for a nap. He LOVES to cuddle and seeks out warmth—whether that’s in a blanket, in your lap, or snuggled up next to his humans.
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes, he loves other dogs and enjoys playtime with them.
CATS: Yes
TRAINING: Rigel loves his crate, especially when it's filled with soft blankets. He’s still practicing walking on a leash but isn’t the biggest fan of winter walks—cold weather isn’t his favorite! He is working on house training and will do best with a patient family that maintains a consistent schedule.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Rigel were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
