WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

HOME RECOMMENDATION: Meet our sweet little angel, Halloumi! She would be happiest in a calm home, ideally with someone who works from home or is retired. She’s starting to discover the joy of playtime and absolutely loves attention from her people. Because of her petite size and gentle nature, she would thrive in a calm, loving home.
PERSONALITY: Halloumi is still a bit nervous as she adjusts to her new surroundings, she’s also showing her brave side—curiously exploring the world around her at her own pace. She gets along well with other dogs and would do best with older children who understand how to be gentle and kind. She’s a great little co-pilot too—she rides wonderfully in the car and even enjoys listening to music along the way! We know she’s ready to keep blossoming in a patient, caring home.

Training: Halloumi is an adorable, smart, and gentle girl who’s already housebroken and has a great appetite. She is a smart and gentle soul who is eager to please, which makes her a joy to have around the house. She’s doing beautifully on the leash and walks like a little lady! While she’s still timid, she feels safe and calm when she’s curled up on a cozy sofa or snuggled in her bed. Her gentle curiosity is starting to shine through—she’s even wagging her tail and watching everything closely as she goes about her day or plays with the other dogs. Surprisingly, loud noises and a little chaos don’t seem to bother her at all—in fact, they seem to spark her interest! She’s a quiet observer who’s just beginning to step out of her shell and take in the world around her. Whether you're relaxing on the couch, enjoying a quiet evening, or heading outside for some fresh air, Halloumi is happy to be by your side. This little lovebug is ready for a forever home where she will be showered with love, cuddles, and maybe a few treats, too! If you're looking for a well-mannered, housetrained companion who's already off to a great start, Halloumi might just be the perfect fit.
WHY DID SHE COME TO WISE? Halloumi spent her life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided she was no longer useful, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE stepped in to save her, giving her the opportunity to find a loving forever home where she can finally experience the joy of being part of a family.
