Oyster

Miniature Schnauzer

4 months, Male, Small

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Oyster

BREED: Miniature Schnauzer x Poodle

DOB: May 8, 2025 (14 weeks)

Home Recommendation:  Oyster is a sweet boy and a true LOVE! He thrives on companionship and would do best in a home where someone is around often to keep him company. He would love to have a doggy sibling in his forever home.

MEDICAL: Oyster is blind in one eye so his new family should understand that he may need a little extra care and patience as he adjusts to new surroundings. He does great once he’s familiar with his environment, but it’s important to keep things consistent so he feels safe and confident. He would do best with a loving adopter who understands his needs and is willing to provide a calm, supportive home where he can thrive.

Personality: Oyster is incredibly sweet and just loves attention! He enjoys being loved and will happily soak up all cuddles you can give. His affectionate and gentle nature makes him a joy to be around, and he’s always ready to be your biggest fan and loyal companion.

KIDS: Yes, Kids 6+

DOGS: Yes, he would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog who can offer him reassurance and help him feel due to his medical needs

CATS: Yes

Training: Oyster is working on potty training and getting the hang of walking on a leash. With a little patience and consistency, he’ll catch on quickly. His eager-to-please nature and puppy charm make training a fun and rewarding experience. He’s ready to learn and even more ready to love!

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Oyster were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
