Anka

Beagle

4 months, Female, Small

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Anka

BREED: Beagle

DOB:May 1, 2025 (17 weeks)

Home Recommendation:Anka will thrive in a home where someone is around often to help guide her training and also with another dog to show her the ropes. She’s a smart, affectionate, and moderately active beagle who will blossom with playtime, structure, and socialization.

Personality:Anka is shy at first greeting but once she’s comfortable, she’s sweet little girl who lives to make her people happy- and you’d better be ready for lots of puppy kisses! She loves playing with other dogs, and exploring the outdoors. After playtime, nothing makes her happier than curling up for a cozy nap on the couch. While she can be a bit timid at times due to her rough start in life, her confidence grows every day. With patience, love, and encouragement, Anka is sure to blossom into the happy, confident pup she was always meant to be.

KIDS: Yes

DOGS: Yes

CATS: Yes

Training:Anka is working on potty training and will catch on quickly with consistency and a routine. She sleeps in her crate at night and is beginning to learn how to walk on a leash.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Anka were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
