WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Tokky

BREED: Beagle x Dachshund

DOB: June 23, 2025 (10 weeks)

Home Recommendation: Tokky is a sweet boy would thrive in a home where he’s not the only pet. He is a pup who loves company and feels most comfortable when he has a friend by his side. He would do wonderfully in a household with another dog to play and cuddle with, or even with friendly cats—he absolutely adores cats! His ideal home is one where he won’t be left alone too often and where he can enjoy lots of love, reassurance, and companionship.

Personality: Tokky and his sister, Tikka, are two sweet pups! They adore being close to their people and look for comfort. They are playful, affectionate, and incredibly friendly, making them a joy to be around. Tokky is truly amazing—he is such a smart boy! He loves his toys and has already started learning how to fetch, which he’s very proud of. His playful side shines through when he’s chasing after a ball, but he’s just as happy soaking up affection and being close to his people. With his big heart and eagerness to please, he’s sure to become a cherished member of the family.

Training: Tokky is doing well with his potty training and has been getting the hang of going outside in the yard. Tokky is learning quickly with consistency and positive reassurance. Tokky is learning how to leash train so it will be a new adventure for him, but with patience and guidance he’s sure to catch on. He loves finding a cozy spot to curl up and rest, whether that’s on a dog bed, the couch, or right by your feet.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Tokky were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
