WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Yoshi
BREED: Beagle x Plott Hound mix
DOB: Jun 23, 2025 (11 weeks)
SIZE: ~40-50lbs when fully grown
Home Recommendation:Yoshi is a sweet and sensitive pup who loves to play, explore, and cuddle. She’d do especially well in a home with a fenced yard where she can run and enjoy outdoor time. An active family that’s home often and can give her plenty of attention, playtime, and affection would be a great match. Yoshi can be a bit timid in new situations, so ongoing training and socialization will help her gain confidence as she grows.
Personality: Yoshi and her brother Toad are ready to bring joy and warmth to their forever home. Yoshi is a sweet girl! She is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly! She loves to play but is just as happy to curl up and keep you company while you work. Understandably, she was a little nervous her first night and around new people, but she warms up quickly and shows her loving personality.
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Yes
Training: Yoshi has been practicing training indoors and she is doing great! Outside, she’s still a little nervous about the busy streets, so we’re working on building her confidence. She sleeps in her crate at night without a peep!
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Yoshi were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
