Beech-Nut

Bichon Frise

4 months, Male, Small

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

Home Recommendation: Beech-Nut would do best in a loving home that can give him plenty of attention, playtime, and affection. Since he loves walks and toys, an active household or one with a fenced yard would be ideal for him to burn off his energy. He would also do well with another friendly dog companion or as the center of attention in a home that can give him lots of love and interaction. Beech-Nut will make a wonderful and loyal addition to any home.

Personality: Beech-Nut a social, happy-go-lucky pup who thrives around people and would enjoy a family that appreciates his playful, goofy personality.

KIDS: Yes

DOGS: Yes

CATS: Yes

Training: Beech-Nut is doing great with his training! He’s very comfortable in his crate and often chooses to rest there on his own during the day, even with the door open. He’s also picked up leash walking quickly and enjoys his walks with a constantly wagging tail, showing no fear of his surroundings. Beech-Nut is also doing well with his potty training—he consistently uses the pee pad, though he’s still learning that he should go outside. With continued consistency and encouragement, he’s sure to keep making great progress!

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Beech-Nut were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.
