Mochi

Golden Retriever

5 years, Female, Large

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Mochi

BREED: Golden Retriever

DOB: Jun 7, 2021 (4 years 7 months)

Home Recommendation: Mochi would do best in a calm, patient home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace. Her future family should be understanding and gentle, celebrating small victories and giving her the time and reassurance she needs to truly shine and grow into the happy, confident dog she’s meant to be.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Mochi spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter!

Personality: Mochi is a sweet and loving girl. She is shy and timid, but she’s already starting to come out of her shell by watching and learning from her foster sibling. A home with another friendly, well-adjusted dog would be ideal, as having a canine companion helps her feel secure and encourages her to explore the world with more confidence.

KIDS: Yes, kids 10+

DOGS: Yes

CATS: Unknown

Training: Mochi is doing wonderfully with her training and routine. She slept through the entire night in her crate, showing how comfortable and well-mannered she is in that space. She is continuing to do great with house training and has had no accidents so far. She’s also eating and drinking more each day, which is a great sign that she’s settling in. She does especially well when following the lead of her foster sibling and will reliably potty when taken out together, showing how much she benefits from another dog’s guidance and routine.
