WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Snowcone
BREED: Maltese
DOB: Sep 16, 2018 (7 years 3 months)
Home Recommendation: Snowcone would do best in a home with other dogs of any age—she gets along wonderfully with everyone. Her foster sibling is a puppy and she has done amazing with him. She is also fantastic with children. She is very patient and happily allows you to pet and hold her at any time.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Snowcone spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her "breeders" decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her giving her a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now she’s ready to start that new chapter!
Personality: Snowcone is a very quiet and timid girl who may be shy when first meeting new people, but she settles in after a short time. Once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality shines—she enjoys calmly roaming around the house, gently exploring and sniffing her surroundings.
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Yes
Training: Snowcone is still learning how to be comfortable outside and is currently adapting well to using pee pads. She is incredibly sweet and patient throughout the learning process. She has done very well sleeping overnight in her crate when it is placed near a human. She is also working on leash training.
