2 years, Male, Medium
This is “Survivor” of Effingham. He arrived 1/28/25 at 38 lb skin and bones, loaded with parasites. Two others at his residence were not so lucky and had starved to death and died during the cold and snow we got last January. His owner refused to surrender and he was forced to remain in the animal control shelter until court finished. Owner was charged with 2 counts of felony animal cruelty and 1 misdemeanor. He was convicted and will serve 3 years in a mental facility.
Believed to be around 3 to 4 years old, Survivor has been exceptionally sweet, and quiet, and shows no signs of aggression so far. He is learning what is means to be an inside dog with safety, love, and comfort, while still unsure of everything.
So far, Survivor has shown:
Dog-friendly with no signs of aggression
- Calm, gentle personality
- Excellent leash manners
-Appears to be mostly housebroken (no accidents so far, just one close call)
- Does well in a crate
- Doesn’t mind baths or handling
- Currently learning how a doggie door works
His full personality is still continuing to unfold, but his excellent manners and his gentle nature has not changed. With patience, consistency, and love, Survivor is going to absolutely shine.
