Gorda

Shih Tzu

a year, Female, Small

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

NAME: Gorda

BREED: Shorkie

AGE: 1.5 year old

GENDER: female

Home Recommendation: Gorda would thrive in a home where her family is around for much of the day. She enjoys companionship and feels happiest when she can spend time with her people, whether that's relaxing nearby, joining in daily activities, or simply enjoying their presence. A family that can provide plenty of attention, love, and a consistent routine would be ideal for Gorda. She would also do well with a calm, friendly dog companion who can help her feel comfortable and provide companionship. Whether in a busy household or a quieter home, Gorda's perfect family will be one that includes her in their daily lives and showers her with the love and attention she deserves.

Personality: Gorda is a big snuggle bunny who loves being close to her people. She is happiest when she is cuddling up with her humans and soaking up all the love and attention she can get. While she is still learning how to be playful, her confidence grows a little more each day, and it's been wonderful to watch her personality blossom. Gorda has a sweet, affectionate nature and truly enjoys spending time with people, making her a loyal and loving companion.

Medical: Gorda has cherry eyes that will be corrected soon during her spay.

KIDS: Yes

DOGS: Yes

CATS: Unknown, but cat test can be done for approved adopters

Training: Gorda is still learning many of the basics and will benefit from a patient family committed to continuing her training. She is not yet comfortable walking on a leash and will need gentle guidance and practice to build her confidence. Gorda has been introduced to wee-wee pads and is still working on her house-training skills. With a predictable routine, positive reinforcement, and plenty of encouragement, Gorda is sure to continue making progress and gaining confidence every day.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Gorda was surrendered after their owner experienced medical issues and could no longer care for her. She is now thriving in a foster home and is ready to find the forever family who will love her.
