WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

Home Recommendation:  

As a young puppy, he requires a home where someone who works from home or is not out for long periods of time to help him learn and grow.

He will thrive with plenty of physical exercise, mental enrichment, and opportunities to explore.

Like all puppies, he will need patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement as he learns house training, basic obedience, and good manners.

Personality: 

Monty is a sweet cuddle bug who loves following his people around and being by their side. He loves to snuggle, especially sleeping on top of you or curled up beside you. He enjoys chasing toys when you play with him and is happiest when he can be close to his person.

Monty is a little nervous and feels safest when his human is with him. With love, patience, and companionship, this sweet boy is sure to blossom into a wonderful best friend!

Medical:

He will be neutered at approximately 6 months of age

KIDS: Best with children who understand gentle, respectful interactions with puppies.

DOGS: Yes other gentle dogs

CATS: Not Tested

Training: 

He’s making great progress with potty training and is becoming increasingly comfortable using potty pads and taken out every 2 hours to use the backyard during the day. He has some mild separation anxiety and may need a little extra patience and reassurance when left alone or crated. He is working on building confidence and would benefit from a family willing to continue positive, gradual crate training.

Keeping him in a puppy pen or secured area when he can't be closely watched will help him stay consistent with his potty routine and set him up for success. He will also need basic obedience training, leash training, and continued socialization to help him grow into a confident, well-mannered companion. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement ,he will thrive and become a wonderful member of the family.

Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future.
