WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

BREED: Miniature Goldendoodle

DOB: June 10, 2026

GENDER: Female

HOME RECOMMENDATION: Barnegat would do best in a calm, patient home where she can take her time settling in and building confidence. She may be unsure of new people, places, and experiences at first, so a family willing to give her plenty of love, reassurance, and gentle encouragement will help her feel safe. A confident, friendly dog in the home could also be a wonderful companion and role model for her. With time, consistency, and a little patience, she is sure to blossom into a happy and loving companion.

PERSONALITY: Barnegat is a happy little clam. She likes frolicking in the background and sitting by your side soaking up the sun. Inside, she enjoys her squeaker toys, but otherwise likes to lie by your feet and watch TV. If she doesn't find a toy she feels like playing with, then you may become the toy, or she'll decide to calm down and relax for a bit. She's still teething so expect some nibbles on your toes. Despite this, she currently respects shoes and may only want to lay on top of them.

TRAINING: Barnegat is still building her confidence and is currently too anxious to comfortably go for walks, so leash training will need to be introduced slowly and patiently. House training is a work in progress, but she is improving and her bathroom breaks are becoming more consistent and predictable. She is not particularly interested in dry kibble and does not seem very treat motivated, so her new family may need to get creative with positive reinforcement. With a consistent routine, patience, and lots of encouragement, she should continue making great progress.

WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Some large-scale breeding programs occasionally have dogs and puppies they are unable to place due to medical needs, birth defects, appearance differences, or simply because there is not enough demand. WISE partners with groups working to help provide these dogs with a second chance rather than an uncertain future. We are committed to rescuing and caring for dogs of all kinds — healthy, medically fragile, senior, or those with special needs — and giving them the love, safety, and opportunity they deserve.
