WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. 

Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

Home Recommendation:  Chamonix is looking for a home that will work on building her confidence and give her the time she needs to come out of her shell. She is such a wonderful, deserving dog who is ready to shine! She just needs some extra love and patience. Chamonix is happiest when snuggling in your lap. She bonds very closely to her special people! She has never been in a home prior to arriving in WISE's care, and she is learning how to walk on a leash and going to the bathroom outside. She will need a patient owner who understands it will take time, a proper routine, and boundaries to get this girl acclimated to what life as a dog should be! She would love someone who is mostly a homebody and lives in a low-activity household where there is not much commotion.

Personality: Chamonix is a lovebug!! She wants nothing more than to be in your arms or lap. She will become your little shadow and follow you wherever you go! She loves to receive all your attention, from head scratches to belly rubs, this girl wants it all! She is very laid-back and spends most of the day taking naps or playing with doggie puzzles. Wrap her up in a warm blanket and she will never leave! 

Kids: Since she is timid, above the age of 16 since she is spooked by sudden movements and loud activities. She needs her boundaries to be respected 

Dogs: Yes, she would do well with a fellow couch potato companion to take naps with.

Cats: Unknown

Crate Trained: In general, she is very good in the crate!  She will sometimes bark for less than 5 minutes but then settles down and does well. She sleeps through the night in the crate without crying or barking at all.  It has helped tremendously with getting her on a routine and preventing potty accidents in the house.

House Trained: Working  on it! She is used to going on wee wee pads. She is not a fan of cold weather so it has been a challenge getting her to go potty outside.

Training: Chamonix has never been in a home before prior to her foster home. She is learning all the good things in life. This being said, she needs a patient owner who will help build her confidence. She is learning  how to walk on a leash. She is very trainable and responds well to verbal boundaries (e.g. "hey don't go over there!") and basic training. She enjoys doing doggie puzzles and games that include sniffing for treats! 

Why did she come to WISE? Chamonix was used for breeding her whole life at a puppy mill. As soon as she was no longer valuable to her 'breeders' they were going to have her killed, but WISE could not let that happen to this sweet girl and saved her!
